Frequently asked Questions

Question: What will it cost for us to get a plan done for our property?
Answer:

The cost will vary depending on the size and scope of your project and your personal requirements. It is best to meet with you on site first as each project is very unique and specific, so we want to make sure we get this right for you first.  Once we have met with you to determine the brief, your budget and the scope of the project we are happy to provide you with a price estimate which is presented to you at our office.

Question: Our property is not in Auckland. Can you design our garden?
Answer:

Although we are based in Auckland we are happy to travel anywhere in New Zealand for any design and/or project management/build work.  To ensure efficiency and to reduce travel costs to our clients, we try where possible to limit our site visits to 2 trips. Google, our website for client login and email of course is also used in these occasions. If we can coordinate another site/client visit at the same time then travel costs are split accordingly between the clients.

Question: At what stage should we involve you in our project?
Answer:

Involving us at the beginning of your project is always best but sometimes its not always possible so we do understand this, but the earlier the better. It allows us to get more of a feeling for the project and may also help you in determining factors such as wind breaks, driveway placement and house positioning. It may also make you think about some things you hadn't thought of before. If you have already completed the building, don't worry as we are very conversed with this and we are still able to help! But remember don't avoid contacting us at the beginning of your project because you are worried it might increase the cost of our service, as generally we can help you reduce your overall cost!

Question:

How long does it take for you to complete a concept plan for us?
Answer:

Timing depends on a number of factors such as our current work load and the size and scope of your project, however for a normal sized project, we would expect to get draft concept plans to you within three - six weeks of your confirmation for us to proceed with our services.

Question:

We need a landscape consent plan for our resource consent, can you help us with this?
Answer:

We are very experienced at producing plans for resource consent purposes. Our computer software allow us to take your design to a stage that allows you to be sure that the overall design is suitable for your requirements but then we only submit the minimum detail required by the resource consent. This ensures you still have scope to make some changes as your project develops, whilst insuring the landscaping remains compliant with the approved plan and you are not committed to implementing the entire plan at the beginning of the project.

Question:

We need a landscape plan for resource consent. Can we do one ourselves to keep them happy?

Answer:

Generally it will be a requirement by council that you have a landscape plan designed by a landscape architect who is conversant with council regulations and has a good understanding of the plants that would be suitable for that region so as to help protect their long term growth. The planting shown on your approved landscape plan and your property will very likely be monitored to ensure your landscaping is as the approved plan. For this reason, we will only submit plans for resource consent that indicates planting that is suitable for your personal and site requirements.

Question:

Can we just pop in to see you at your studio?
Answer:

You are welcome to call in to see us on any work day between 9:am to 5:00pm. But please be aware that we might be on site or meeting with another client, so to avoid disappointment please make an appointment by contacting us first. If we are in the studio and not with other clients then we are more than happy to meet with you and to answer your questions.

Question:

I would like to come and see you to discuss our up and coming project with you. Will there be a charge for an initial chat?

Answer:

We are more than happy to discuss your up and coming project with you at our office at no cost to you but you will need to make an appointment While you are there we can show you some example of plans and answer any questions you might have. By all means feel free to bring photos, plans etc of your site to allow us to get a bit more of an understanding of your project.
